Age of Red (HongSe NianDai): When
it's not under reconstruction, as it currently is (many thanks
to our Shanghai correspondent for this info), this club is
loud and popular. A couple of bars either side of the entrance,
notably The Den. 30 RenMin NanLu Si Duan (4th section) diagonally
over the crossroads from the Shamrock.
Babi
Club : Nightclub
very popular with laowai and locals alike. 30 Yulin ShengHuo
GuangChang. Babi II opening up on the east section of First
Ring Road along the river, where Pink used to be.
Cafe
Paname : New French-owned cafe/bistro which doubles as
a great bar in the evenings. Do they ever sleep? Jazz evenings,
photo exhibitions, DJs - some good stuff on here, too. Ke
Hua Jie, just off KeHua BeiLu.(0fficial address 143 KeHuaBeiLu).
Dave's
Oasis: Recently refurbished, now has
a pool table, Internet PC, still does food, and, being a
bar, drinks. Comfy, just nicely shabby sofas for relaxing.
Sit out on the street if you like. Relaxing place for a few,
afternoon, evening or late nights. Dave also organises tours
and stuff. The bar is at 21 Bin Jiang Lu, over the river
from the Traffic
Hotel.
Kakadu : If
you want a bit of loud repetition, a few drinks and lots of
people up for a good time, head west from RenMin NanLu along
the First Ring Road and "the Kak" is on your left.
Leg and Whistle : Recently opened (Aug 2007) British bar/pub, a great place to have a few beers, relax, chat and watch the footy. On the first floor (second floor for non-Brits) opposite the WoWo minimart on KeHuaJie, near the south gate of Sichuan Uni, so ask the taxi driver for ChuanDa NanMen. Just down the street from Cafe Paname, and next to some good local and Korean restaurants.

Little
House: The reincarnation of the Little
Bar. Great place to see local bands and touring foreign acts.
Good place for a drink, too. Nice website, too, in Chinese.
It's southwest of the old Little Bar. It's
just west of FangCaoJie, north of the 2nd ring road.
MGM : Large neon windmill
outside, centre of a large city (just southeast of Tianfu Square)
and those are pretty much the only connections between this
place and Le Moulin Rouge. Still, you go up in a lift to a
large club with at least two sections, one a teeny disco and
another has a circular stage with occasionally fabulously bizarrely
dressed performers trying desperately not to be recognised
by their friends. They sell booze, too - always a plus. Oh,
it's LiHua Lu/Jie. You can't really miss it.
Reggae Bar : Sadly
no more - Sunday 14th May 06 was its swansong. What a pity.
The
Shamrock : Enduringly popular expat hangout. Packed on
Fridays and Saturdays. Guinness and other local and imported
beers. Pizza, burgers. Free pool table, table football, good
cocktails. Beer garden out front. Diagonally over the crossroads from the Age of Red.
